5/19 Recap

AAA - Richmond
Chuck James made a rehab appearance and pitched 2 innings for Richmond. He gave up 1 hit and 1 run in his two innings. Anthony Lerew gave up a lead in the eight when Carlos Pena hit a 3-run homer. Phil Stockman faced the final 6 batters and struck 5 of them out. Scott Thorman stayed red hot with 3 hits. He is hitting .316 now and should be getting a look by Atlanta but Adam LaRoche is hitting just enough to stay in his platoon with Brian Jordan.

Columbus 7, Richmond 6

AA - Mississippi
Barbaro Canizares hit 2 homers and drove in 3 runs to lead Mississippi to a 4-3 win. Yunel Escobar also went deep for the Braves. Zach Schreiber pitched the final 3 innings for the win. Escobar's homer in the top of the 11th was the game-winner. Christ Waters pitched well but did not figure in the decision.

Mississippi 4, Jacksonville 3

High A - Myrtle Beach
Four pitchers combined to 5-hit the Pelicans 2-0 on Friday. Myrtle Beach wasted a good start by James Parr who went 6 innings, gave up 2 runs and struck out 7. Obviously there was really nothing to speak of offensively.

Wilmington 2, Myrtle Beach 0

Low A - Rome
The big boppers were at it again as Rome won 12-2. Eric Campbell, Max Ramirez, and Kala Kaaihue went a combined 8-12 with a homer and 5 RBI's. They also scored 8 times. Kaaihue hit his 11th homer and is hitting .341. He is really turning into a nice first base prospect. Something Atlanta has lacked in years past. Jeff Lyman pitched 5.2 scoreless innings to improve to 3-0 with a 2.29 ERA.

Rome 12, Charleston 2
